Romany Wood is a 40 minute classical work for children's voices, narrator and orchestra, with text by David Carr and music by David Gaukroger. The piece is designed to appeal to children aged 7-13 and has been performed to great acclaim in concert halls, cathedrals and schools around the UK.

- a church
- a choral society
- an orchestral society
The Romany Wood Charitable Trust (Registered Charity Number 1115147) will provide for free all the materials to rehearse and perform Romany Wood.
Romany Wood can be performed with piano accompaniment, with live Orchestra, or by using orchestral backing tracks made by the Orchestra of Trinity College of Music.
You can find out more in ‘How to Take Part’. Participants agree to donate 50% of any profits made at their concert(s) to the Romany Wood Charitable Trust. The trust will use the money to develop classical music amongst young people and will make donations to children’s charities that operate in the UK and overseas.
A recording of Romany Wood, made by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the New London Children’s Choir with Michael Maloney narrating will be available in the autumn. Details on how to obtain CDs at preferential rates are found in the restricted part of this site.
Only performances covered by the Romany Wood – Sing for Children project are exempt from royalties. All other public performances will be liable to royalties.
